Heleen grew up in the countryside of Groningen in a household of doctors, as both her parents were GPs. She studied Psychology at the RU University of Groningen and graduated in developmental psychology. She started her career as a Children’s and Youth Psychologist at the RIAGG centre in the South of Groningen. In 1990, she transferred to Amsterdam and worked at the policlinic of Arkin PuntP for 24 years. Her knowledge and experience of treating various psychological complaints does not only derive from her work in the clinic, but also arises from various collaborations outside the clinic.
Heleen is constantly searching to develop and improve her therapeutic options by education. She is open to new insights from a scientific perspective but is interested in views for a more body-minded approach. Heleen finished her psychotherapy education at the RINO in Amsterdam in 2003, she became a EMDR therapist in 2011 and finished her education to be a Mindfulness trainer in 2012. Heleen also became a registered mediator when she finished this education in accordance with the norms of the MfN in 2014.
Heleen is a mother of three daughters, has a mixed family and lives close to nature at the Loosdrechtse Plassen.
